A limb on a roof can hide punctures, crushed gutters, damaged flashing, or interior leaks. It can also be under tension, which makes DIY cutting risky.
If it is safe, take photos from the ground showing the whole roofline, where the trunk or limb touches the structure, and whether the tree is also blocking a driveway or door.
Avoid tarping or climbing onto the roof while a tree is still resting on it. Get the tree situation assessed first, then handle roof protection and repair sequencing.
